Dr. Émile Carrier, podiatrist, is originally from Saint-Narcisse-de-Beaurivage in the Chaudière-Appalaches region. He enjoys several sports, including road biking and downhill skiing. In fact, he goes to work more than 90% of the time by bike, in summer and winter. This podiatrist has also lived abroad, notably in Laos for a period of 2 years. He is therefore very fluent in French and English and also knows some rudiments of Lao and Spanish.
He studied at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières where he obtained his doctorate in podiatric medicine in 2019. He participated in an internship focused on diabetic wound care at the Centre hospitalier régional de Lanaudière in Joliette and at the Centre hospitalier affilié universitaire régional de Trois-Rivières (CHAUR). He has also done internships in podiatric surgery practices. This allows her to educate her patients about the different foot surgical procedures.
After beginning his career as a podiatrist at the Clinique podiatrique du Gatineau (Pied Réseau) from 2019 to 2022, he practised at Greenberg Podiatry in Ottawa from 2023 to 2024 while overseeing the launch of his innovative podiatry clinic in Gatineau, Médecine podiatrique du Plateau.
Passionate about biomechanics, he intends to continue to deepen his knowledge in this field. In the autumn of 2022, he travelled to Dublin (Ireland) to participate in a course on gait analysis by the European Society for Movement Analysis in Adults and Children (ESMAC).
In the winter of 2025, Dr. Carrier, podiatrist, began a master’s degree in biomedical sciences at the Université de Montréal, offered as an extension program at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières. His research focuses on a pilot project to implement a community-based diabetic foot screening service within a family medicine group. His goal is to contribute to improving services for people with diabetes in order to reduce the serious complications this disease causes to the feet of thousands of people in Quebec each year.
