Dr. Sandra Gendron, podiatrist, is originally from the Gatineau region where she did her undergraduate studies. She attended Collège Saint-Alexandre in Gatineau where she played volleyball on the Titans team. Being a team sports enthusiast, she also played soccer for many years. She now runs regularly in the summer and cross-country skis in the winter. Her passion for sports and movement led her to pursue a career in the field of biomechanics.
She studied at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières where she received her Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine in 2018. She successfully completed a fellowship at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine (NYCPM) in medical imaging, podiatric surgery, orthopedics and pediatrics. She participated in an internship focused on wound care at the Centre hospitalier régional de Lanaudière (CHRDL) in Joliette and at the Centre hospitalier affilié universitaire régional de Trois-Rivières (CHAUR) to provide better care to diabetic clients. She has also completed internships in private podiatric bone and soft tissue foot surgery practices in order to be able to educate her patients on the various procedures available to them.
In order to contribute to the advancement of podiatric medicine, she has been involved in university research on foot orthotics.
She is certified to practice foot and ankle ultrasound in a clinical setting in 2019, in addition to having a foot and ankle x-ray license.
In order to offer her expertise to the population of the federal capital, she obtained her license to practice as a chiropodist in Ontario in 2022 and is now a member of the College of Chiropodists of Ontario.
